Psychiatry & Psychotherapy
Christopher S. Aloezos, MD
ABOUT
I am a psychiatrist board certified in general psychiatry and addiction psychiatry and provide comprehensive mental health treatment for adults - including psychotherapy and medication management, w hen indicated. I combine evidence-based treatment with person-centered care, and understand the intrinsic importance of the doctor-patient alliance. While I am a mental health expert, I know that each patient brings their unique life story, culture, and perspective to their mental health needs. In doing so, I work together with my patients to build insight and ultimately achieve treatment goals.
I completed my adult psychiatry residency at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Following residency, I completed a fellowship in administrative psychiatry at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and a fellowship in addiction psychiatry at the NYU School of Medicine. During my time at Montefiore Medical Center and the NYU School of Medicine, I researched and implemented life-saving treatment protocols for patients with alcohol use disorder. To enhance my psychotherapeutic skills, I also attended a fellowship at the New York Psychoanalytic Society and Institute, which has deepened my understanding of psychodynamic theory and practice. I am currently on faculty as a clinical assistant professor of psychiatry at New York Medical College.
During the day, I serve as the medical director of outpatient addiction recovery services at St. Vincent's Hospital Westchester. There I participate in clinical work, education, advocacy, and research. I continue to teach medical students and psychiatry residents, and I see patients primarily in the outpatient setting.

I am a psychotherapist with experience and passion for working with adults of all ages, backgrounds, and current life states. I worked with Dr. Christopher Aloezos for three years as a clinician in the outpatient addiction recovery services program at St. Vincent’s Hospital Westchester, where I earned my credentials for alcoholism and substance abuse counseling (CASAC). I believe everyone can benefit from quality mental health care, regardless of where they are in their lives. I have experience providing care to people who are actively using alcohol or other drugs and those with diagnoses of severe mental illnesses.
My approach to psychotherapy is grounded in curiosity, compassion, and capacity for change. In the process of getting to know you, I help you to better understand yourself. I care tremendously for my patients and provide the unconditional positive regard that everyone deserves, especially those who have difficulty feeling it for themselves. Finally, I believe that change is possible to the extent you desire. Even if that desire is small and wavering, I help elicit and strengthen it so that you can live the life you want.
I completed my master’s degree in social work at Fordham University and public health at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Rehabilitation and Human Services at Penn State University. I frequently draw on my education to help my patients navigate the complexities of our healthcare and social services systems as well as to initiate change in how mental health, especially substance use disorders, are treated.

SPECIALTIES
INDIVIDUAL, GROUP, & COUPLES PSYCHOTHERAPY AND MEDICATION MANAGEMENT
We specialize in the treatment of substance use disorders, mood disorders, and anxiety disorders, and also provide psychotherapy for patients who wish to better cope with and understand many of life's inevitable stressors. These can include relationship issues, major life transitions, work difficulties, and creative stagnation, to name a few. As mental health treatment professionals, we have a deep understanding of the biological, psychological, social, and cultural contributions to someone's mental health.
During your treatment, our hope is to create an open, curious, and empathic framework that promotes wellness and self-discovery. We accomplish this by utilizing a patient-centered approach that integrates both psychotherapy and medication, if needed. While we have a natural proclivity towards insight-oriented and psychodynamic psychotherapy, we both have a flexible approach that is suited to meet our patients' needs. Dr. Christopher S. Aloezos, MD can also prescribe buprenorphine for patients struggling with opioid addiction, and can administer LAI buprenorphine (Sublocade) and LAI naltrexone (Vivitrol).
Our private practice is low-volume and we primarily see patients on weekdays and in the evenings. Our offices are in two convenient locations: one in St. Vincent's Hospital Westchester, and another in downtown Rye, NY. Both offices have ample parking available. Both are near public transit including Metro North and are ADA accessible. We also offer telehealth for patients who prefer this option. We do not accept commercial insurance, but can provide a superbill if your insurance plan offers out-of-network benefits.
